2010 Pinot Plantings
The 2010 season was the year of reclaiming the gentle sloping aspect from invasive Blackberries and establishing the estate grounds for future plantings. Four additional blocks of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris Dijon and Pommard Clones were planted throughout the spring. The Lyle Block was planted in the Pinot Noir Coury Clones in late March followed by the planting of the Rebecca Block to Pinot Noir Pommard Clones over Easter weekend. We were thankful to our neighbor for removing seven wild Cherry trees prior to the late April plantings of Pinot Gris Dijon Clones 146 and 152 that established the Grant Block. The lingering cool, wet spring allowed for a late May planting of Pinot Noir Dijon 115 Pinot Noir Clones in the Daniel Block.
While the fall cover crop is painting the earth vibrant green between rows at Noble Knob Vineyards, plans call for a late fall planting of Pinot Noir Dijon Clone 113 to establish the Stacey Block. To all who have participated in clearing the land, burning brush piles, running the micro-irrigation system and tying vines, we say thank you!
